FC Barcelona’s Brazilian midfielder Rafinha returned back to action last night for the first time in a year in the Barcelona derby against Espanyol in the first leg of the quarter final of the Copa del Rey that the Blaugrana lost by 1-0.

After the match, FC Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde was asked about the midfielder’s contribution on his comeback in the official post-match press-conference. Valverde stated that Rafinha “is another card we have that can give us a hand. Rigth now we are suffering from many injuries and he is training well, I can see him improve every day.”

Valverde’s remarks come amidst hard negotiations between FC Barcelona and Inter where reportedly the Catalan’s giants are asking the Nerazzurri to pay €40 million if they wish to make the loan permanent, something the Nerazzurri are trying to negotiate down to somewhere around €30 million.

Rafinha is the younger brother of Thiago Alcantará who plays for Bavarian giants FC Bayern Munich.
