Inter legend Lothar Matthaus shared his thoughts and feelings on the current situation surrounding Pierre Emerick Aubameyang and revealed he found himself in a similar situation with Inter.

“He has disappointed everyone, not just the management, but also his teammates and fans. Not one player is bigger than the club and a resolution must be found,” the German told Sport1 amid reports that the Gabonese forward is trying to force his way out of Borussia Dortmund, despite having a further three and a half years on his contract with the Bundesliga side.

In 1991, Real Madrid contacted Inter over the availability of Matthaus having already agreed personal terms with the midfielder but the Nerazzurri knocked back Los Blancos.

“The club said no and that is why I did not go to Spain, and I just had to accept it,” Matthaus, who spent four years with Inter between 1988-1992, said on his own similar situation.
