The rumors of Inter captain Mauro Icardi joining Real Madrid have been doing the rounds for a while now. If rumors are to be believed then Icardi is on the wish-list of Real Madrid alongside with Robert Lewandoski and Eden Hazard.

According to today’s nespaper edition of Turin based Tuttosport, Icardi’s stay at Inter depends on whether or not the Nerazzurri can qualify for next seasons Champions League.

According to the report “Mauro Icardi has always said that he wants to stay at Inter but the temptation to play in the Champions League may prove to be pivotal for the player. The player is already 25 and has never got the opportunity to be a part of Europe’s best club competition. Inter are yet to cement a place for next year’s Champions League and things are certainly not going their way at this moment.

“Icardi on the other hand has a release clause which can be activated by any foreign club. Nevertheless, the Nerazurri are planning to have a meeting with Icardi’s representatives at the end of the year to extend his contract which may see him earning more than 7m per year. Inter will also try to remove the clause from his contract or at-least double it” Tuttosport conclude.
