With the second Milan derby of the season (in the league) a month away, build up has already started. Gazzetta dello Sport have examined the past two months for each side which has seen Inter go without a win in league action while Milan have cut the 18 point gap between themselves and their cross city rivals to 10 points:

“Inter have fallen to fourth place and it is by dear grace that the Nerazzurri remain in the last position for the Champions League. In the seven league games since the 5-0 win over Chievo, they have only collected five points, only Chievo himself has done worse in that time. Milan have remained in seventh, but in the past seven games have picked up a total of 13 points. The distance between the Milanese has almost been halved.”

Gazzetta also recall that Luciano Spalletti’s Inter had three wonderful months to start the season with but believe the 0-0 draw with Juventus is when the wheels began to come off.

The Milan based newspaper have also praised Rossoneri manager Gennaro Gattuso for getting Milan back on their feet and recovering a number of the sides big players.
