Italian footballing legend and former Cagliari manager Gianfranco Zola has spoken on one of Italy’s hottest prospects in Nicolo Barella and what the future is likely to hold for him.

“Is Barella ready for a move to a big club? He is a great player who has to finish maturing. The important thing is that he goes to a club where he has confidence and is able to get enough game time.”

Inter are one of a number of clubs to have courted the Italian youth international and Zola believes that Inter could be the right destination for the youngster.

“Luciano Spalletti is a great coach, who is well known on an international level and Inter could be the right place for Barella,” Zola, who gave Barella his professional debut, told Gazzetta dello Sport in an interview today.

The 21-year-old has been near ever present for the Rossoblu this term and attracted a lot of interest as a result of his many fine performances.
