Italian media outlet Libero interviewed Milan Skriniar ahead of the derby della Madonnina in which the Slovakian international defender varied from different themes, from his impact since joining the Nerazzurri, to the future, through the Champions League and his favorite position on the field.

Skriniar began by talking about how much he cost Inter stating that “I remember well when people asked why I had cost €25-30 million, I think I have proven to be worth the money.”

Tell the truth: did you plan to get to Inter and take the starting position right away?

“Actually no, I was a little surprised myself, I went beyond my expectations, but slowly playing them all I raised the bar.”

Who wanted you at Inter?

“As soon as the director Ausilio and Mr. Spalletti came around, I immediately said “Inter? I’m coming!” For me, playing here is wonderful.”

Some say, ‘there is a good chance a big club will sign you in the summer.’ Do you feel you can promise ‘I will stay here’?

“The answer is simple: I think about playing my best, it’s my job, other things do not interest me”.

But can reaching the Champions League qualification make a difference?

“It may be, but next year Inter will be in the Champions League, I am convinced, and so the problem does not arise”.

There are those who say that your dressing room is not so united.

“Lies, we’re joking around.”

In international games you also play in the midfield. Would you like to move in that role in the future?

“I actually was a midfielder, it was my coach at Zilina, Adrian Gul’a, who moved me to defense, I like to play there, but I’m a defender”.

Your attitude towards long balls, is it because of Giampaolo?

“It has always been a feature of mine since I started playing as a central defender.”

Do you prefer to play left or right?

“In the Samp I played left, now more to the right. Initially I thought it could be a problem, but in reality almost nothing has changed.”
