Inter chief executive Alessandro Antonello spoke to Inter TV on the Nerazzurri’s resounding victory over Sampdoria at the weekend among other topics.

“It’s important to underline the team’s performance, they showed a significant level of collective work away from the individual performances. The team was united once again and that was the defining feature in the first part of the season. With the last two matches, we’ve shown positive signs and we need to continue from this point to reach our objective at the end of the season.”

Antonello then proceeded to discuss and congratulate club captain Mauro Icardi who helped himself to four goals during the win, which meant he hit the 100 goal mark in an Inter shirt.

“We all know what Mauro is worth, everyone was waiting for his 100th goal and it came in an extraordinary manner yesterday, Mauro is like a piece of jewellery for this team. He’s still young and we think that he can have an important future but we must never forget that the team is the most important thing.”

He concluded the interview by speaking on the international break and what is to come after it for the Nerazzurri.

Inter are an important talent pool for all of the National Teams and this is a source of pride. It’s the same story for our youth system where many of the guys have been called up by the international youth sides. After the break, we start again against Hellas Verona and then it will be time for the reorganised #DerbyMilano. We’re surprised by all the noise in the media about that date considering that we simply followed the rules set by the Lega Serie A. Choosing a different date to the other matches that were called off because of the tragic events surrounding Davide Astori has nothing do with the respect of the fans and we’re convinced that they’ll respond in great fashion as they’ve always done.”
