Inter are to kick off official contract renewal talks with Mauro Icardi after Easter according to reports circulating in Italy.

Gazzetta dello Sport report that Inter want to extend the Argentine striker’s contract by a further two years, which will tie him to the club through to 2023. Icardi’s current salary is also expected to be raised somewhere in the region of €7-8 million per season. In addition to this, Inter also wish to raise his current €110 million release clause.

Corriere dello Sport also report that his wife and agent Wanda Nara will soon meet with Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio to discuss a new and improved contract. The Roman newspaper believe that Inter will offer Icardi a yearly salary of €6.5 million despite it being expected that he will command around €8 million.

The 25-year-old has continued his fine goal-scoring form this season and added four more at the weekend as Inter thrashed Sampdoria 5-0 to keep themselves on course for Champions League qualification.
