Inter have identified Nahitan Nandez as the number one target to strengthen the midfield this summer according to a report from Turin based newspaper Tuttosport.

Nandez’s agent offered his client’s services to the Nerazzurri in recent months but sporting director Piero Ausilio knocked back the initial proposal. Contacts between the agent and Inter’s market men have intensified in recent weeks and it is believed that Inter are now ready to take the next step and start negotiations with the Uruguayan’s club, Boca Juniors.

Negotiations between Inter and the Argentine giants are good following the €6 million transfer involving Facundo Colidio last summer.

The 22-year-old, who can play in either central or defensive midfield, holds an Italian passport which therefore means he would not count against Inter’s non-EU quota for next season if a move was to come to fruition.

This season, Nandez has featured for the Buenos Aires based side on 19 occasions, scoring four times and assisting one also.
