After two days of rest following the 5-0 win over Sampdoria at the weekend, Inter returned to the training pitches yesterday without the players selected for international duty. Defender Andrea Ranocchia was also among those not present as his teammates returned to training as he continues to struggle with a leg injury.

Gazzetta dello Sport report that the 30-year-old will definitely miss Inter’s next Serie A fixture with Hellas Verona on March 31 and is also at risk of missing the re-scheduled Milan derby on April 4.

The former Inter captain has been a bit part figure in manager Luciano Spalletti’s Nerazzurri side this term making just 8 appearances in all competitions thus far. Despite that status, the Italian international has managed to put in a few good performances and got himself on the score sheet in the 2-0 win over Benevento last month, in which he also captained Inter again in the absence of Mauro Icardi.
