Former Inter defender Tarcisio Burgnich has admitted he is surprised with Walter Sabatini and Suning’s decision to part ways with one another in an interview with TuttoMercatoWeb.

“I am surprised, for me Sabatini is the only old-fashioned and high-level manager in Italy. I think that he is a someone who knows how to support the company with good intentions. I understood Sabatini wanted to do something different on the market but he was not allowed to do it, he did not have autonomy and this influenced the final decision.”

Burgnich, who played for Inter for 12 years between 1962-1976, then spoke on the situation of Inter.

“I think Inter is a good team. Inter must be a team and at the moment it seems to me that this is the big problem for Inter, but after all, when there are other problems such as corporate problems, it is not uncommon for players to think more about themselves than the good of the group. In this season finale, Inter must rediscover this peculiarity to think about gaining access to the Champions League.”
