During an interview with Premium Sport, Inter CEO Alessandro Antonello has discussed Walter Sabatini’s decision to quit his role as Suning Sports’ technical coordinator, and was full of praise for Primavera coach Stefano Vecchi following today’s 2-1 victory over Fiorentina in the Viareggio Cup final. Here is what he had to say:

“Sabatini’s farewell? These are personal choices but we, like Inter, must remain focused on the objectives we have set ourselves. It’s a delicate moment of the season and we must be fully concentrated. We will face Verona and then it is the derby, so we will need maximum focus for these two matches. Then, sometimes people make personal choices and I have nothing else to add.

“Are Inter improving? Yes, absolutely. Against Napoli we seen some positive signs. We then played really well against Sampdoria. Now the boys will come back from the international break, training has already resumed and we hope that we will be able to confirm we are on the right track when we face Verona.

“Viareggio Cup? Our youth sector is the best in Italy, and thanks must go to our coach.”
