#InterStats Preview – Sampdoria Vs Inter: Can Inter Stay On The Right Track?

Inter exhibited their attacking prowess during the 5-0 humiliation of Sampdoria at the Marassi before the International break, they will be hoping to maintain the same pace when they welcome relegation threatened Hellas Verona to the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza this weekend. The Nerazzurri are unbeaten in their previous six encounters against Verona and have lost just once at home this season. Below Saturday’s game is previewed using whoscored.com for what seems to be an opportunity for the Nerazzurri to get in full form ahead of the anticipated derby midweek.

Attack:

Juventus loanee Moise Kean is the team’s highest goalscorer with just four goals, a figure similar to Inter’s 3rd top scorer Milan Skriniar which in this case is a centre back. Argentine bomber Mauro Icardi leads the goalscoring chart at Inter with 22 goals.

Defence:

Inter are the 3rd best defensive side in the league and have conceded just 11 goals at the Meazza. They are also highly discipline with no red card so far this season and have kept clean sheets in their previous three games. Verona on the other hand have conceded 56 goals, 26 goals specifically on their travels. The Nerazzurri have made 11.4 interceptions per game and 16.6 tackles per game with Gagliardini and D’Ambrosio leading the park with 1.8 interception per game and 2.8 tackles per game respectively. Verona have average 18.1 tackles per game and 15.3 interceptions per game.

Moving the ball:

Inter have average 54% ball possession and 85.5% pass accuracy versus Verona’s 43.4% ball possession and 74.5% pass accuracy. Borja Valero have mastered 60.7 average passes per game and has a success rate of 91.4%, only Skriniar has a better pass success percentage with 91.7%. Inter have completed 9.6 dribbles per game with Joao Cancelo completing 1.9 dribbles per game. Candreva average 2.5 key passes per game and 2.1 crosses per game.

The top three performers for Luciano Spalletti remain Perisic (7.38), Icardi (7.35) and Skriniar (7.32) while Verona best three players are Nicholas (6.99), Caracciolo (6.86) and Alex Ferrari (6.85).
