After the defeat away against Torino, Inter coach Luciano Spalletti stopped by Sky Sport Italia to analyze the match and why Inter were unable to convert one of the many chances the team creates.

The former Roma coach stated that: “sometimes, things just do not go your way no matter how hard you work. Today we didn’t move the ball around enough, and we wasted energy chasing down their counter attacks. We needed to show more aggression in recovering the ball after we lost it and we should have kept Torino pinned in their half. We tried today, but, there is always in an opponent to overcome to get a result.”

Spalletti was then asked about Torino’s goal expressing sympathy for Ivan Perisic who unfortunately provided an indirect assist which led to Adem Ljajic’s matchwinning goal: “Perisic tried to recover the ball, but the rebound was not fair on him considering how hard he worked to chase back. These things can happen.”

Spalletti was then questioned on his decision to bench the in-form Rafinha explaining that: “He has not played for two years, so it was too much to ask that he play three games in only seven days. He was already struggling on Wednesday, so I thought I’d save him so that he could come in later and make a difference.

“Borja Valero played because he was fully fit. Borja is a player who has always contributed to the team” Spalletti concluded.
