Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio will meet with Jorge Mendes, the agent of Joao Cancelo in a bid to understand what the Portuguese full back’s wage demands may be CalcioMercato.com report.

This would suggest that Inter are seriously thinking about taking up their option to turn Cancelo’s temporary stay in Milano in to a permanent one. He currently earns around €2 million per year but has established himself as one of the key players for Inter under manager Luciano Spalletti and is likely to command a wage befitting of that status.

The defender joined Inter on loan in the summer as part of a swap deal that saw Geoffrey Kondogbia join the Spanish club and after a slow start, Cancelo has earned himself comparisons to Inter full back Maicon, who has yet to be adequately replaced since departing back in 2012.

The 23-year-old has made 23 appearances for the Nerazzurri across all competitions and netted his first goal for the club in last night’s 4-0 rout of Cagliari.
