Inter started and ended the game poorly at the Bentegodi where Rolando Maran’s men came within 5 centimeters of snatching a draw right at the death. But in between that there was some good play in attack which led to a goal to Icardi via the use of VAR and a fantastic touch by Man of the match Rafinha to set up Ivan Perisic on the edge of the 6 yard box.

Samir Handanovic – 7: Samir started the game cold but his world class saves kept us in the game and in the hunt. Tremendous improvement since the winter break.

Joao Cancelo – 5: Joao had a poor game to say the least. His movement is solid as usual but he struggled in defence all day and his passing was average at best.

Milan Skriniar – 7: The usual from Skriniar. Gave as good as he got. Maran’s men tried a lot of long balls but couldn’t get past this man all day .What a signing!

Joao Miranda – 5.5: Miranda would have also had a good game. But the goal was him completely forgetting to mark his man. Looked tired earlier than usual today.

Danilo D’Ambrosio – 6: Whenever he attacked Inter opened up for a counter in the first half. But he corrected his positioning in the second. Great presence of mind to assist Icardi for the goal.

Borja Valero – 6:  Much improved performance from Borja Valero today. Used all his experience to ensure Brozovic had a lot of space and time to do what he can.

Marcelo Brozovic – 7: Epic Brozo was the center of everything. Defended the ball, moved it well. It was his shot that broke the flying donkeys back.

Yann Karamoh – 6: Not the usual from Yann. He was unable to link up well. Tried to bring the spark in but should have stayed longer as the game opened up.

Rafinha – 7.5: The assist to Ivan alone was levels above anyone else in the squad. Played like an absolute phenomenon. Battled away all game. Maestro.

Ivan Perisic – 7: Was very poor in the first half. Passing, control and his movement was below par. Second half was brilliant. He was a second early to everything.

Mauro Icardi – 6: The great complete performance from Cagliari was missing against Chievo. Didn’t manage to get involved but still managed to score a crucial tap in.

Davide Santon – 5.5: The rest of the team panicked as soon as Inter changed shape. He was good while going forward though. Couldn’t stop anything towards the end.

Matias Vecino – 5.5: Looked rusty and clearly out of touch. Gave away possession dangerously and it led to a goal. Didn’t look like he knew his role in the formation.

Antonio Candreva – N/A: Brought on to eat out some time towards the end. Managed to mess up a counter attack but it was more about wasting time at that moment.

Luciano Spalletti – 5: There was no reason to go to a 5 man backline. All subs were ill-timed and spoilt the confidence Inter built. Only positive was the half time talk.

Paolo Valeri – 5: Valeri made some questionable minor decisions all game. Poor booking for Cancelo is a good example of it. Made a meal of an routine game.

Inter – 5.5: All said and done the 3 points keep Inter in the race for 4th spot. They got the job done but Inter didn’t see out the game as a top side.

Why did Inter switch to a 5 man backline? Would you start Borja against Juve? When will Candreva score? Do you disagree with any of the ratings?
