Tuttosport is confident that Inter are planning for their future with Luciano Spalletti at the helm, Champions League or not.

“With the epilogue of the season still to play, Suning has already decided to keep their faith in the tactician from Certaldo and even extend his contract, giving the coach the opportunity to start his own legacy story.”

Keeping Spalletti (with a renewal to 2021 ready should Inter qualify for the Champions League) is deemed justifiable due to the need of continuity in the current project which has already laid strong foundations for him to build upon. Furthermore, the points hoard this season is what has impressed Suning the most. Spalletti has so far amassed 66 points with four games left to play, meaning Inter could break 70 points again in a season, which has not happened since 2010/11 – post treble season. Spalletti has proven his desire through perseverance of all the difficult moments this season, as well as being actively involved in all aspects of the clubs running. Showing Suning that the only way to get results is with continuity, which was missing last season as Inter changed Managers from Mancini, De Boer and Pioli, with Stefano Vecchi taking over twice as the interim.

In the case of achieving 3rd or 4th place, prospective talents will not be on the market, only established players who are perhaps not up to standard. Additionally, Spalletti will have complete freedom in his Summer preparations, instead of having to travel to the other side of the world for a tour. “This year, the squads withdrawal to Brunico has been taken out of the plans, due to the fact that Inter will only have to travel within Europe for the International Champions Cup preseason tournament, to eliminate jet lag problems and save time for training”, confirms Tuttosport.
