According to Spanish news outlet Mundo Deportivo, Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio is in constant contact with Barcelona officials regarding Rafinha.

Inter wish to keep a hold of the midfielder, who has shared a desire to remain past his loan spell also. However it will be difficult for Inter to pay the €35 million redemption fee (plus a possible further €3 million in bonuses) agreed in January and as a result they are searching for an alternative way in order to keep a hold of the Brazilian.

Rafinha’s situation is similar to that of fellow Inter loanee Joao Cancelo who Inter are also trying to keep a hold of. Recent reports have suggested that Inter are seeking a discount on the Portuguese defender while other reports have suggested that Inter may be forced to waive their 25% future fee on Geoffrey Kondogbia in order to get the discount. Other reports have also suggested Inter are exploring the possibility of extending Cancelo’s loan for a further season before redeeming him at the end of that.
