Speaking to Globo Esporte before scoring in his sides 1-1 draw with Vasco da Gama in the Copa Libertadores, Argentine sensation Lautaro Martinez expressed his excitement at the prospect of lifting the trophy with Racing.
Martinez underlined that: “to win the Copa Libertadores with Racing would be a dream. This is a club that I love. I have a great respect for and affection for all involved.”
The question, therefore, is if this desire have any impact on the players impending move to Inter? The 20 year old is expected to arrive in Italy in June, while the final of the Libertadores is not until December. Under the current agreement, and assuming Racing were to qualify, the player would not be able to participate in the later stages of the tournament.
After four matches, Racing sit top of Group E on eight points, three clear of Universidad de Chile and Cruzerio. Lautaro Martinez has scored five goals so far in the tournament.
