Inter’s season long objective of qualifying for the group stages of next seasons Champions League are all but over after the Nerazzurri’s heroic comeback at the San Siro from a goal down and a man down turned out to not be enough as Juventus scored twice in the last five minutes of the match to snatch the win.
After Matias Vecino’s controversial sending off, Spalletti’s men came back in the second half and equalized through Mauro Icardi who scored his 8th Serie A goal against Juventus which was also his 27th goal of the Serie A season. Inter took the lead via a Barzagli own goal but late goals from Cuadrado and Higuain snatched the win at the death. Following Lazio and Roma’s win this weekend the Nerazzurri trail both Rome teams by 4 point with only three matches left to play in fifth place.
