Inter captain, and the goal scorer of the 2-2 comeback goal, Mauro Icardi talked to Sky after the incredible win over Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico which has sent Inter in to next season’s Champions League.

“To take Inter back to the Champions League is the most beautiful thing to do. We struggled a lot because Lazio had a great game tonight, something that they have done the entire season. We knew it was going to be a difficult game, but we also knew that we had this in us. All the players have had the same objective this season, to reach the Champions League and after tonight’s game we finally did it.”

Icardi then spoke on his future, a topic that will undoubtedly be in the press often during the summer transfer window.

“My future? Now there are two months when I can talk to the club, my goal this season was to do well and to take Inter back to the Champions League. This summer we will sit down quietly and will try to find the best solution for Inter. Like I said last week, my thoughts are clear and the club is aware of them, let us see what happens and decide from there. You guys know that I love Inter and I always want the best for this club. We will see if the club is ok with my thoughts about what will happen next.

“A bit due to fatigue, a bit due to a long season and even with a minor injury I always want to play. And also today I always tried to help the team although I was a bit out of the game. I have played with Eder before, also at Sampdoria. Then it is up to Il Mister (Luciano Spalletti) to decide upon what team to put on the pitch, for better and for worse.

“Why I am talking to the club? I always try to find what is best for me, if this would be at Inter I would be very happy. If it would be at another club I will evaluate the situation should that occur. But stay calm, I am very happy in Milan and at Inter, my family likes the life in Milan. Let us enjoy this moment and then see what happens.”
