Lautaro Martinez has assured that ‘Inter are everything that I wanted’ upon his arrival in Milan, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

Martinez flew into Italy on Thursday to complete a medical ahead of his €22 million move from Racing Avellaneda, having played his final match for the Argentine side in the Copa Libertadores during the week.

Racing have been pressurising Inter to allow them to keep the forward, described as one of the best young prospects in Argentine football, until the end of the calendar year, when the South American club season finishes.

However the Nerazzurri are not willing to make such a concession and will make sure Martinez is at Luciano Spalletti’s disposal from the beginning of pre-season training in July.

Moreover, the player himself is thought to want to start life in Serie A as soon as possible and is reported to have told Racing president Diego Milito and Inter’s management on Thursday that the Italian giants represent everything he wanted.

“Today Martinez will meet Javier Zanetti,” Gazzetta write, “while in the evening he could speak to the Italian media.

“What’s certain is that he will wear the no. 10 shirt – another demonstration of how much Inter believe in a player who in Argentina is thought to be ready to fight for a place in the Selección with the likes of Aguero and Higuain.
