A conclusion that appeared certain in May has changed now in June.

We are talking about the future of Italian central defender Alessandro Bastoni. Last season was not a positive experience for the 19 year old – only 16 appearances (scoring one goal) between the Atalanta first team and Primavera.

A few weeks ago it seemed certain that the player would return to Inter (who purchased the full card of the player last year, and with whom he has a contract until June 2022). The club would then either seek out a new loan agreement in either Serie A or B, or alternatively keep the player to be at the disposal of Luciano Spalletti for next season.

However, once fourth place was achieved, the market strategies of the club changed. Piero Ausilio is now looking for different profiles for the upcoming season.

FCInterNews reports that this change in direction from the club means that they are likely to maintain the two-year loan agreement with Atalanta, due to expire in June 2019. Bastoni will remain in Bergamo, under the eye of Gian Piero Gasperini.

Inter hope that the player will be considered a more stable fixture in the first team squad so that he may gain more top-level experience.
