Inter legend Dejan Stankovic has relived his footballing past in an interview with Kosmo Magazine.

The Serbian midfielder shined at three different teams, beginning with Red Star Belgrade, Lazio and Inter: “I always dreamed of playing in the Belgrade Red Star jersey. I was a ball boy, then I became a player and finally the captain.

“Lazio gave me the opportunity to grow in football and become a professional. During this time period, the Italian Serie A was the most difficult in the world. I will be eternally grateful to the Biancocelesti.

“With Inter we shared ten years of history. We grew together as a team, constantly improving until we won the Champions League in May 2010.”

Despite the great idol status amongst Nerazzurri fans, for Stankovic it is never a problem to roam normally in the streets of Milan: “The people of Milan are loyal to the club and the players and they value you a lot, but they are not intrusive or boring. I’ve never had a problem eating and taking a walk in the city comfortably and without stress.”
