Inter are making steady progress in their attempt to sign Roma midfielder Radja Nainggolan and are confident of reaching a deal with the Giallorossi, according to Sky Sport.

Nainggolan scored six goals and made 11 assists in all competitions for Eusebio Di Francesco’s side during the 2017-18 season, and has emerged as Luciano Spalletti’s number one priority in midfield as Inter look to reinforce their squad ahead of next year’s UEFA Champions League.

Sky Sport report that the Nerazzurri have now made contact with Roma over a potential deal and are optimistic about their chances of reaching an agreement – although currently they have still not presented an official offer for the 30 year-old.

Other sources on Monday had suggested that an offer has already been made, with Tuttosport reporting a proposal of €29 million plus Primavera star Nicolò Zaniolo, but the pay-per-view TV channel does not believe this is the case.

Nainggolan has scored six goals in 30 caps for the Belgian national team but was excluded from Roberto Martinez’s 23-man squad for this summer’s FIFA World Cup in Russia.
