Inter are considering a move for former Juventus player Romulo as they continue to search for a new right-back, according to reports in Verona.

Romulo made 40 appearances in all competitions for Hellas Verona during the 2017-18 season but has now become a free agent following the club’s relegation to Serie B, thanks to a clause in his contract which enabled him to leave if they failed to preserve their top-flight status.

Inter are looking to secure a replacement for Joao Cancelo after they were unable to sign the Portuguese international on a permanent basis from Valencia, and according to L’Arena they have identified the 31 year-old as a potential solution.

Romulo – who has also played in central midfield and as a right-sided forward during his career – has received offers from Russian outfit Spartak Moscow and Brazilian sides Internacional and San Paolo since rescinding his contract with Verona, but has rejected all three as he would prefer to remain in Italy.

Sampdoria and Lazio have also expressed an interest in the player in Serie A, but are thought to be put off by Romulo’s wage demands.
