Serie B side Venezia are closing in on three loan signings from Inter for the following season after holding talks with the Nerazzurri on Monday, according to FcInterNews.

The Lagunari appointed former Inter Primavera boss Stefano Vecchi as their new head coach last week and are now looking to reinforce their squad ahead of the 2018-19 campaign, in which they will attempt to return to Serie A after losing in this season’s playoff semifinals.

FcInterNews believes that the club have identified three of Inter’s academy talents as key transfer targets: centre-back Manuel Lombardoni and midfielder Matteo Rover, who were both part of the side that clinched a second successive Primavera Scudetto under Vecchi a fortnight ago, and goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio, who graduated from the Primavera in 2017 and spent last season on loan with Renate in Serie C.

“Venezia have been given the green light for Lombardoni and Rover and should soon be able to sign both of them on loan, be it a straight loan or with an option to buy, although the deals still need to be finalised,” they write.

“There are a few more obstacles, however, as far as Di Gregorio is concerned. The goalkeeper has offers from other Serie B clubs as well, or rather Spezia and Avellino, both of whom have just appointed new head coaches [Pasquale Marino for the former, Michele Marcolini for the latter].

“Spezia are due to meet with Inter today to discuss Di Gregorio, while Avellino will try to convince the youngster by offering him the chance to be their first-choice keeper.

“The reassurances that he receives about being able to play every week is what will ultimately sway the player one way or the other.”
