Inter’s talks with Mauro Icardi over a new and improved contract are to resume in the middle of July according to a report from Corriere della Sera.

Talks between the club and club captain have taken place in the past month or so but have been disrupted by Icardi going on holiday and Inter focusing on the transfer market.

Icardi is already contracted to the Nerazzurri through to the end of the 2020/21 season and is the highest earner at the club but as with every summer, interest in his services is high and Inter are eager to not lose their star man.

Should a new contract be agreed upon, it can all but be assured that his current release clause of €110 million, only valid to clubs outwith Italy, will see a significant increase so to deter any interested clubs.

Last season Icardi played a huge role in firing Inter back in to the Champions League by scoring no less than 29 goals in 34 Serie A outtings.
