Transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Inter have spoken directly to Atletico Madrid’s sporting director, Andrea Berta and asked about taking Sime Vrsaljko on loan with the right of redemption attached.

The Spanish club however, as he goes on to report, have no intention of releasing the player under these conditions and negotiations will continue between the two clubs over the coming days.

Vrsaljko is currently with Inter duo Ivan Perisic and Marcelo Brozovic in Russia, where Croatia have qualified for the Round of 16 at the World Cup. The 26-year-old is no stranger to Serie A, having previously represented both Genoa and Sassuolo before moving to Diego Simeone’s side back in 2016.

Vrsaljko is one of a few names Inter have come in to links with for right back recently alongside Chelsea’s Davide Zappacosta and Barcelona’s Aleix Vidal but Inter seem at the most advanced stage with Vrsaljko at this moment.
