Roberto Gagliardini could sign a contract extension with Inter as early as Monday when the Nerazzurri will begin pre-season training ahead of the new campaign, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

Gagliardini has made 51 appearances in all competitions for Inter since joining the club from Atalanta in January 2017, scoring two goals and providing one assist, and is expected to be one of a series of players to sign new deals with the club in the coming weeks, after his agent met with Piero Ausilio on Friday.

“Inter’s current deal with Gagliardini expires in 2021,” the Milanese publication wrote on Saturday, “but the parties are working to extend it by one year and the player could sign a new agreement as early as Monday.

“Like the club already did last month with Dalbert, Matias Vecino and Alessandro Bastoni, the extension for Gagliardini should help them to lower the amortisation costs on their accounts for the next few years; as well as to confirm the faith they have in the Italian, who is at the centre of their project going forward.”
