Sime Vrsaljko is Inter’s primary target to improve the right back department but Gazzetta dello Sport report that the Nerazzurri have two main alternatives in mind if they can not strike a deal with Atletico Madrid over Vrsaljko; Matteo Darmian and Davide Zappacosta of Premier League clubs Manchester United and Chelsea respectively.

Darmian has just a year left on his current contract with the Red Devils and for the right price, Inter could swoop in for him in the event of missing out on Vrsaljko, who they remain in talks with their Spanish counterparts over. Alternatively, Inter could offer Joao Mario in some kind of swap deal in return.

As for Zappacosta, it is no secret that soon to be Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri is a huge admirer of Inter midfielder Matias Vecino and a swap deal seems the most likely scenario for the Italian full back, formerly of Torino, just like Darmian.

The Milan based newspaper however refuse to rule out the possibility of the Nerazzurri making a surprise signing in place of Vrsaljko, Darmian or Zappacosta.
