Andrea Ranocchia was named captain in the first half in Inter’s first pre-season friendly fixture win against Swiss side Lugano and stopped by Inter TV to share his thoughts on the outing.

The former Genoa player began by analyzing the team’s performance stating that: “I think the team looked good, it is always important to win. Our legs were a bit slow in the beginning, we have been working a lot these past few days. We are still heavy, we need to arrive ready when the Serie A starts and continue to work the way we have been so far.”

Ranocchia was then asked about his impressions of the new signings stating that: “The new signings all have quality, they are ready, have experience and important matches behind them. They will surely give their great contributions to a group of solid players. The year ahead will be very long, full of matches, there is space for everyone to play.

“We have to continue to work well. It is important not to be brilliant now, that is impossible. It takes more time for me to fuel up given my physique. We have to have heavy legs now. Then with the Champions League this year there isn’t much time to work. We need to work a lot now to be brilliant later” Ranocchia continued.

In conclusion the former Inter captain was asked about his impressions of the young players: “They are good, our youth sector has won a lot. They are good and prepared, they will give us satisfaction in the future. Inter is a family and they are a part of that family.”
