Inter manager Luciano Spalletti spoke on a number of different topics ahead of Inter’s first pre-season game against Lugano, firstly discussing what he thinks of his squad for the coming season.

“I know them very well, we have a strong group, it was the same last year and it’s very strong this year, if we add the love that surrounds us we become something solid and very strong structurally. Everything is here for us to work in the right way and in the best detail possible.”

Spalletti then proceeded to speak on Inter’s rock solid defence last year and believes it has been improved upon.

“We did very well last season, against very strong players. This year the department has been improved, almost completed, it will become an important part of the team because it will give us the strength to build on team play.”

Speaking on the team as a whole he added, “I am in sync with the players and I see their availability, we will do everything for the good of Inter. The team has potential in all departments and I can’t see why we shouldn’t do well.”

Spalletti concluded the interview with Inter TV by discussing the idea behind the phrase  ‘Uomini forti destini forti,’ which translates to “Strong man, Strong Destiny”

“It’s easy for me, it’s a phrase that means many things, it was the t-shirt worn before the trip to Rome, we know what our job is, what team we’re part of, strong destinies need strong men.”
