Further confirmation that Giovanni Martusciello will not be joining recently sworn in Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri’s backroom staff has arrived from Tuttosport.

Sky Sport broke the news yesterday and the Turin based newspaper have backed it up with a report of their own today. The Inter coach, whose official title at the Nerazzurri is technical collaborator, worked as Sarri’s assistant at Empoli but communicated to Inter that he wishes to stay and has no interest in joining his friend at Stamford Bridge weeks ago when rumours first surfaced that Sarri was being targeted by the Blues management to replace Antonio Conte as manager of the six time English champions.

Martusciello, 46, joined Inter as part of Luciano Spalletti’s coaching staff last summer following a spell in charge of managing Empoli wherein he just about managed steer the club away from relegation to Serie B but could not stop the Azzurri from dropping back down on the final day of the season.
