Speaking to the press following his sides performance against Chelsea, Luciano Spalletti asked the club for two more players of a certain profile.

The first was a right back to replace Joao Cancelo, and it appears the club have met that request with the signing of Croatian Sime Vrsaljko. The second was a world class central midfielder. In the past 24 hours, there has been a flurry of activity to satisfy the coach and all signs now point to the arrival of Chilean Arturo Vidal in Milan.

According to FCInterNews, the player took a few days to reflect upon the offer presented by the club before finally deciding on the Nerazzurri as his next destination. With that, the house owned by the player in Munich was put on the market as his entourage began making plans for a return to Italy. This move has been strongly supported by the players family who fondly remember their time living on the peninsula when Vidal played for Juventus. For their part, Inter have begun making plans to welcome the player in the coming days.

In short, there is total agreement between the player and the club. The deal represents a significant coup for Inter who overcome competition from Atletico Madrid, Manchester United and Chelsea to sign the Chilean. Links to Barcelona and Milan were found to be pure fantasy. With a contract agreed, the Nerazzurri must now find an agreement with Bayern Munich. Although the Bavarians were originally against the idea, it appears now that they will renew Vidal’s contract for a further year so that the player can move on loan (presumably with the right to redemption).

With that, the ball is in Suning’s court. It remains to be seen if the Chinese are willing to invest to make the deal permanent in 12 months time. Given the advanced state of negotiations and the confidence of the player, we can assume that the bulk of the work has been done and the definitive conclusion is close. But, nothing is certain until the deal is in black and white. It is clear that, if an agreement were not to be found, it would be a very hard blow to the former Juventus and Leverkusen man who now feels like a Nerazzurri plauer. If the transfer did fall through, it cannot be excluded that the player remains with the German champions.

From Vidal there is a strong desire to close the deal soon and give an official announcement before the end of the week. The other party who would be delighted is Spalletti who would finally have his warrior in midfield.
