Nerazzurri coach Luciano Spalletti was sent off just before the final whistle between Sampdoria and Inter in yesterday’s Serie A clash at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris in Genoa’s Marassi district.

According to Italian media outlet FcInterNews the Inter coach was sent off due to a misunderstanding between him and the fourth official after Marcelo Brozovic scored the Nerazzurri’s winner in the 93rd minute. Following the Croatian international midfielders match winning goal, Spalletti celebrated by looking in the camera’s and shouting his happiness, whilst the Fourth Official, Piccinini, who was standing next to the camera thought Spalletti was shouting at him.

This led to Piccinini telling referee Marco Guida to send Spalletti off for unsportsmanlike conduct on the touchline. A misunderstanding that led to the Inter coach having to watch the final seconds of the match from the stands, but it remains to be seen if he will face any further sanctions.
