Inter midfielder Matias Vecino is now repaying the faith shown in him by Nerazzurri manager Luciano Spalletti and the data is there to back him up.

In the match against Sampdoria, in which Inter ran out 1-0 winners with thanks to a late goal from Marcelo Brozovic, Vecino excelled in both the attacking and defensive phases of the game.

On the attacking front, despite not scoring, he was still effective as he had an 81.6% accuracy with passes played in the final third of the pitch and a 75.6% passing accuracy overall. Defensively speaking, he blocked one shot and won three aerial duels and showed he is not shy to get stuck in as he committed three fouls.

The Uruguayan midfielder is now in his second season with Inter having joined in the summer of 2017 from fellow Serie A side Fiorentina. The 27-year-old has played in five of Inter’s six games so far this season. He has one goal to show for it, a late header against Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League that gave Inter all three points on the night.
