Inter club captain Mauro Icardi shared his delight at opening his Serie A goal scoring account for the season in the 2-1 home victory against Fiorentina.

“I am happy with my goal and happy with the win overall, it often happens that I score against Fiorentina. The assist? D’Ambrosio was good enough to beat his man, he made his goal for himself,” Icardi said in an interview with Inter TV post-match at San Siro.

Icardi proceeded to look ahead to Saturday when Inter will play host to Cagliari and stressed the importance of needing to pick up maximum points once more as Inter look to cut the gap between themselves and those at the top of the table.

“Now my head is turned toward the match with Cagliari. We are aware that the ugly start can not be cancelled out so now we need to get three points in every game. We are Inter and we must always take to the field and win. At the end of the season we must finish in the top four.”

He concluded the interview by speaking on San Siro itself.

“For us it can not be a burden to play at San Siro in front of our own fans. Last year we said that we played better here, it is a beautiful place.”
