Prior to the match with Fiorentina, Inter manager Luciano Spalletti spoke to Inter TV and stressed the need for the Inter team to keep the current spirit in the squad up.

“The secret of the latest victories lies in the character of the team. We have matured now and we are showing what we are made of. It is an important spirit that the team has to preserve,” he said.

“We have to show that we are a team, we have moments where we allow others to come in to the game but we do not have to do that.”

Spalletti was then quizzed on the importance of Lautaro Martinez and confirmed he is available again after an injury lay-off.

“He is important for the whole team, not just for Mauro Icardi. He has done well in training and is available, it has been a long time out for him and I am thinking it will be hard for him to manage the whole game, but he is a player we count on.”

He concluded the interview by speaking on Borja Valero, who has come on as a late substitute in the last two matches.

“He did well last year when he arrived and this year I started him off slowly. When I called him to play his part he was a very professional player even in the 5 minutes that he played. If we all manage to have his mentality, the team will be able to take steps forward.”
