Erick Thohir has joined the board of directors of Oxford United, the English League One side have confirmed today.

“Oxford United are delighted to welcome Erick Thohir to the board of the football club.

“Erick has most recently been Chairman of Inter Milan, and was previously the majority owner of MLS DC United, owner of Philadelphia 76ers basketball, as well as Chef De Mission of the Indonesia Contingent for the Olympic Games in London 2012. He currently holds positions as a FIBA board member and Chairman of the National Olympic Committee for 2015–2019.

“He joins Chairman Sumrith “Tiger” Thanakarnjanasuth and new directors Horst Geicke and Zaki Nuseibah on the board at the U’s,” a statement posted on their official club website reads.

While no longer sitting on the board of directors at Inter following last month’s shareholder meeting, the Indonesian tycoon still holds a 30% share in the club but is expected to sell these shares to majority shareholders Suning soon.
