Samir Handanovic will this evening make his home debut as official captain of Inter having replaced Mauro Icardi during the week and Gazzetta dello Sport believe he was the right choice to succeed the Argentine.
“Inter have always been able to count on Handanovic, especially in times of difficulty. When things were not going well and it was difficult to send someone credible to face the media, Samir always put on a strong face and was not only able to defend the team from criticism but also invite his teammates to give some more. The Inter shirt is heavy to wear and a player must show to have the right personality to wear it,” their report reads.
Handanovic has been with Inter since 2012 and has consistently saved Inter by making some big saves in games and winning the club many points on his own.
This season he has made 31 appearances across all competitions and has kept an impressive 13 clean sheets in the process.
