Gazzetta dello Sport have hypothesised how Luciano Spalletti could deploy the team for Thursday’s Europa League match with Eintracht Frankfurt following the addition of two more players to the list of absentees.

Marcelo Brozovic and Miranda were both forced off due to injury in yesterday’s 2-0 win over SPAL meaning Spalletti, who could only call upon 19 players for the first leg, will have his options further limited, at least in terms of first team ready players.

The Milan based newspaper propose that Spalletti could opt for a 3-4-3 formation with Milan Skriniar, Stefan de Vrij and Andrea Ranocchia forming the back-line. The midfield would consist of Cedric, Borja Valero, Matias Vecino and Danilo D’Ambrosio. The front three would be led by Keita Balde with Matteo Politano and Ivan Perisic occupying the wings.

Alternatively, Spalletti could go for a 4-3-3 system, a system that he has had the team play a few times previously throughout the season.

This system change would see a back-line of Cedric, de Vrij, Ranocchia and D’Ambrosio. Skriniar would advance into midfield alongside Vecino and Valero and the front three would be the same.
