Matias Vecino is expected to shake off a thigh injury in time to start for Inter when they face Chievo on Monday.

The Uruguayan midfielder missed last weekend’s draw away to Udinese after sustaining the problem in training the day before the match.

However, Corriere dello Sport today reported he will recover to start alongside Borja Valero in midfield.

Inter will be without Marcelo Brozovic, Danilo D’Ambrosio and Stefan De Vrij for the fixture against the Gialloblu, whose relegation was confirmed last month.

Valero will step in for Brozovic while Cedric Soares and Miranda will replace the latter pair in defence.

Contrary to reports in Gazzetta dello Sport, Lautaro Martinez is tipped by the Rome-based paper to be picked ahead of Mauro Icardi in attack.

Inter will take a potentially decisive step towards qualification for next season’s Champions League if they pick up three points at San Siro.

Inter’s probable starting XI (4-2-3-1): Handanovic; Cedric, Skriniar, Miranda, Asamoah; Vecino, Borja Valero; Politano, Nainggolan, Perisic; Lautaro.
