Inter CEO Beppe Marotta met Torino owner Urbano Cairo on Tuesday to discuss a deal for midfielder Roberto Gagliardini, Tuttosport reported today.

Gagliardini is a primary transfer target for Granata boss Walter Mazzarri and would cost the club €15 million, having joined Inter from Atalanta in January 2017.

Inter would like to sign centre-back Armando Izzo as part of the deal, with Antonio Conte having identified him as the perfect reinforcement for his 3-5-2 system.

However, Cairo has made it categorically clear the Italian is not for sale and is unlikely to change his mind.

Gagliardini made 21 appearances for Inter under Luciano Spalletti in the 2018-19 season, scoring five goals in Serie A.

Mazzarri believes he would be ideal for Torino’s midfield next season and already advised the club to pursue him during the January transfer window.

Izzo moved to Turin last summer and made 39 appearances in all competitions, scoring four goals – one of which came against Inter in January.
