Inter have made an approach to SPAL for their wing-back Manuel Lazzarri, the club’s sporting director confirmed yesterday.

Lazzari made 33 league appearances for Leonardo Semplici’s side this season as SPAL secured a 13th-place finish, providing nine assists.

Speaking to CittaCeleste, sporting director Davide Vagnati denied current interest from Lazio but admitted two clubs had got in touch over the 25-year-old.

“I haven’t heard from Igli Tare in a while so there are no developments there,” Vagnati said.

“At the moment I can confirm we have only received interest from Inter and Atalanta.”

Inter are known to be looking for a player who can play at right wing-back in new boss Antonio Conte’s 3-5-2 system, capable of providing quality and balance in equal measure.

The Nerazzurri are reportedly stepping up a pursuit for Hertha Berlin midfielder Valentino Lazaro, while Real Madrid forward Lucas Vazquez has also been mooted as an unlikely alternative.
