Antonio Conte fears Mauro Icardi would cause dressing room unrest if the striker stayed at Inter beyond this summer, according to La Repubblica.

Inter have not spoken to Icardi or wife and agent Wanda Nara for some time as the club await offers for the striker, which so far have not arrived.

A swap deal with Juventus forward Paulo Dybala remains the most plausible solution, but it would be difficult to complete a deal before 30 June with the Old Lady yet to announce their new head coach.

“Inter will be at Lugano for their preseason training camp in July and it’s not certain Icardi will be there,” the Rome-based paper said today.

“Conte could leave Icardi out of the squad in an attempt to convince him he has to find a new team, although this would risk reducing his market value even further.”

Icardi wants to stay at Inter for at least the next 18 months, at which point he would be free to sign for any club on a free transfer.

“At the moment that sounds like a threat,” La Repubblica concluded.
