Inter have had an improved offer for Hertha Berlin midfielder Valentino Lazaro rejected by the Bundesliga club, according to Sky Sport.

Beppe Marotta has raised their proposal to €20 million but Hertha want €25 million plus add-ons for the 23-year-old.

There is still a sizable distance between the two clubs’ valuations but the Nerazzurri are determined not to give up yet.

Inter will continue pressing Hertha to find an agreement and want to secure a deal as quickly as possible.

Lazaro made 31 appearances for Hertha last season as they secured an 11th-place finish in Germany’s top flight, scoring three goals and contributing seven assists.

Antonio Conte is looking for a player to fill the right wing-back position in his 3-5-2 system and believes Lazaro would fit the bill with his stamina and pace.

Piero Ausilio has been following Lazaro for months and watched him in person during their 1-0 defeat against Poland on 21 March, where he played on the right-hand side of a 4-2-3-1 formation.
