Sampdoria are hoping to finalise a loan deal for Inter defender Alessandro Bastoni in the coming days, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

Bastoni spent last season playing for Parma and scored his only goal of the campaign against the Blucerchiati, when the sides drew 3-3 in May.

Inter do not want to lose control of the 20-year-old and would therefore be unwilling to include an option to buy in the deal.

Bastoni seems to be keen on a move to Genova and the next week will help the clubs work out whether or not the move is possible.

The centre-back started two of Italy’s three matches at this summer’s European Under-21 Championships, as Gigi Di Biagio’s side were eliminated at the group stage.

The Azzurrini started well with a 3-1 win over Spain before a 1-0 defeat to Poland ultimately proved fatal.

Bastoni was left out of the Spain game but was picked in the starting XI against Poland and Belgium, who Italy beat 3-1.
