Inter could meet Cagliari on Monday to finalise a deal for midfielder Nicolò Barella, according to Sport Mediaset.

The Nerazzurri agreed personal terms with the 22-year-old several weeks ago but have not satisfied the Sardinians’ own demands yet.

Cagliari are holding out for €50 million before selling Barella but Inter have only bid €36 million so far, along with €4 million in add-ons.

Beppe Marotta and Piero Ausilio are prepared to increase their offer but they will not match the Rossoblu’s lofty valuation.

Inter will begin preseason training under new head coach Antonio Conte next week and it is in their interests to wrap up a deal as soon as possible.

The impression is that the clubs will reach a deal halfway between their current positions, bringing an end to a tiring summer saga.

Barella scored once for Cagliari last season, creating four assists, and represented Italy at this summer’s European Under-21 Championships.
