Stefan de Vrij admitted it would take Inter time to get used to their new 3-5-2 system after losing 1-0 to Manchester United in Singapore.

Mason Greenwood’s second-half strike split the sides as Antonio Conte’s men made their International Champions Cup debut.

De Vrij played 73 minutes and insisted the Nerazzurri had put in a good performace, despite the defeat.

“We’ll have a lot to improve on and learn from in a match like this,” the defender told Sportitalia.

“We’re playing with a different system compared to last season and we need these matches to get used to it. We’re working every day to ensure we do well this season.”

Inter’s next friendly match will be against Serie A rivals Juventus in Nanjing on Wednesday, before their tour concludes against Paris Saint-Germain on Saturday.

They will then face two additional games, against Tottenham and Valencia, upon their return to Europe, before the new league campaign begins on 24 August.
